Welcome to the Miklós Rózsa information pages. This increasingly popular 20th Century composer, known mainly for film music compositions was also very active in the classical world. Miklós Rózsa has an impressive array of classical compositions dating back to his his youth and continuing till his death though after emigrating became known mainly for his music for Oscar nominated and winning film scores such as Thief of Bagdad which brought him to Hollywood and Ben-Hur, probably the pinnacle of his film music career. On the other hand his concert music was also performed by the likes of Jascha Heifetz Gregor Piatagorsky, Leonard Pennario and even helped launch Leonard Bernstein's conducting career with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Today Rózsa's music is performed regularly by a new generation of soloists and orchestras throughout the world. Since his death an ever increasing number of compositions have received new recordings and live performances.
